Wow. How did I miss this? Friend and fellow blogger James Archer recently lauched a service called FruitCast. The service inserts short ads at the beginning and end of podcasts.
"Want to earn income from your labor of love? Putting ads on your podcast is now as easy as signing up for an account and changing the URL of your podcast’s RSS feed."
I listened to the sample ads they have on the site, and they’re pretty low-key. Certainly nothing to offend anyone’s listeners. If anything, it might bore them, but it gets the advertisers name in there very clearly.
This is the first program I’ve seen that helps podcasters monetize their podcast so easily. I’m guessing there are more out ther, yet I’ve not seen them. The website spells everything out really well. Still, I’m trying to get in touch with James for an interview to find out even more. Can you think of any questions you’d like me to ask him? My first concern is changing my feed address. I’m not yet clear on what impact that might have on my current listeners, which are over a couple thousand at this point. When I get it figured out, I’ll write more.
Yes, their sample-ads are really low-key!
