The longer I’m in the blogosphere the harder it becomes to pick just one Smart Blogging Babe each week. I may have to extend the list to 20 or 30 or who knows. Having said that, there’s one blogging babe in particular who will not evacuate the space between my ears.
Drum roll please . . .
2005’s first Top Ten Smartest Blogging Babe is Yvonne Divita, who writes Lip-Sticking, Smart Marketing to Women Online. Yvonne writes an excellent blog, and I’ll get to some of what like in a moment. But first, I need to tell you why I can’t get her out of my mind. In two words.
Dickless Marketing
That’s the title to Yvonne’s book, which I haven’t read yet (it’s on my wish list). Yvonne is quick to point out that Dickless Marketing IS NOT dickless marketing but is Dickless marketing as in "see Dick run, see Jane dominate e-commerce." Either way, the title is brilliant – engaging, savvy, slightly irreverent – and I love it.
One thing that makes Yvonne’s blog interesting and entertaining is how she writes in third-person all the time. For example, this post titled "Jane Gets a Little Behind,"
"Jane prefers not to comment on the double-entendre of the title of this post, we merely hope it amuses you, dear readers."
Oh Jane, you are a master (or is it mistress?) of the double-entendre, and I love it.
Beyond Yvonne’s unique and entertaining style, her content is just plain smart. Especially as it relates to women, how they shop, how they buy and how to make your website/business "female-friendly." Jane Sniffs Out a Sale is one of many examples. Here’s a cut:
"Usability is arguably one of the most important elements of any e-commerce Web site. Unfortunately, few new business owners, and a number of well-established business owners, pay scant attention to this vital factor of their online business."
Should you decide to visit Yvonne (or is it Jane), you’ll find more than just her own thoughts and ramblings (as if that weren’t enough). Each week she features a "Smart Woman Online" and "Smart Man Online" interview that makes for rich and engaging content.
Don’t miss Yvonne and Jane (Sybil?). They’re one (two?) Smart Blogging Babes. Read Lip-Sticking, Smart Marketing to Women Online.
