Gizmo is being billed as a Skype-killer. In case you’re not aware, Gizmo and Skype are basically internet telephone programs that allow you to make free phone calls to other members or very low cost (like $.02 per minute) calls to non-members.
The big benefit of Gizmo is it gives you the option to record conversations. And if you’re doing any podcasting or telephone interviews etc., that’s a big benefit. Yes, you can use HotRecorder to record Skype or connect a digital voice recorder to your telephone (both of which I’ve done), but that’s one more step that Gizmo eliminates completely. Gizmo gives you some other free features as well, and you can check those out at the Gizmo site.
