Today I was Inspired by Yaro Starak’s recent Birthday Milestone Blog Post “How To Become Comfortable With Yourself.” It’s great to see the journey Yaro has taken and how we can incorporate positive things into our lives to develop and unlock our potential.
You are capable of doing amazing things, of achieving all of your hopes, dreams and goals and living the life you want to live. You were born with this ability. So what happened? Life happened.
Along the way, you picked up a few limiting beliefs, behaviors and some negative thoughts. It happens to everyone. The good news is there’s something you can do about it. Here are a few tips and suggestions to begin to unlock your potential.
Recognize negative thoughts. We all have negative thoughts. We think things like, “I’m bad with money or I’m just no good at _____†all the time. We do it automatically, without thinking. So the first step is to begin to filter these negative thoughts. Start to recognize them. When you do recognize them, change them to be positive thoughts. For example, “I’m good with money or I am good at ________â€
If that feels to forced then consider letting the negative thoughts go. For example, you can say to yourself, “I have had some trouble with money in the past but I’m looking forward now and am good with money now.â€
This strategy enables you to let go of your past mistakes, and believe me everyone has made mistakes, and to positively focus on the future and what you’re capable of.
Assess your strengths. Have you ever noticed that if you receive 10 compliments in one day and one criticism, you focus on the criticism? It’s our nature to focus on the negative and the areas where we’re not so strong. However, focusing on our strengths is much more productive and quite honestly your strengths are where you’re going to achieve your success. So let those weaknesses go, ignore the criticism, and be proud of who you are.
Be grateful. You may have heard this one too many times however gratitude really is a tremendous success tool. When you’re grateful for what you have and for the mistakes and lessons you learn, then you’re 100 times more powerful. Gratitude not only helps you take a positive approach to almost everything you do, it affects how people respond to you. They’ll be significantly more likely to help you, to want to work with you, or to buy from you if you radiate a positive and grateful glow.
Visualize what you want. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want and to visualize success right down to the nitty gritty details. Visualization is a powerful process used by the most successful business owners in the world, by athletes, and by spiritual leaders everywhere. Visualization helps your mind and body perform as if you’ve already succeeded.
Let go. Let go of limiting beliefs, or the idea that you can’t do something, that success isn’t possible or that you’re just not cut out for it. When a limiting belief comes up, for example, the rich get richer, is a limiting belief if you’re not already what you would consider rich, right? Explore why you have that belief and if you really believe it to be true. If you don’t, let it go, it’s holding you back from achieving the success you desire.
When you’re able to clear away negative thoughts and limiting beliefs and embrace your strengths and your ability to visualize and accomplish your goals, nothing can stop you. You really are capable of achieving anything you set your heart and mind to.
Life’s too short not to go for the gold!
PS. Yaro just turned 30… Please join me in wishing him a Happy Birthday!
I agree with everything said in this post. Have you read or watched The Secret? It talks about all of these things allowing you to reach your potential. Ever since I have found out about The Secret, I have been concentrating on reaching my potential and these tactics truly do work. Success doesnt happen over night, it takes time. If you live your life according to these tips you will most likely enjoy it more and not blame yourself for “failures.” Over time you will become succesful.
Lovely post! I would also add living life to your full potential, try to taste every possibility you have and dream about the way you want your life to be. Reading inspirational books and talking to people who have gone through hard experiences help us bounce back even higher wheneve we fail.
And reading The Secret is a good way to start changing you life. Amazing book!
Thanks for the encouragement Vera!
You hit this one on the head. I tend to be ultra-conservative and always intend to set and strive for those big goals however “only after I do this and that first”. This is a great reminder that life is too short and each person absolutely determines if he/she will have a good day and positive outlook and is responsible for their own happiness and achievements.
Great post. A lot of the time I put things off, saying to myself that after something happens I’ll have more free time to do something else that I want to do. But that free time never comes around unless I really consciously make time for it. It’s hard to always be in the mindset of “life is too short to not do the things you want to do” and yet that is really the key to unlocking your potential and going for your dreams.
Thanks for the encouragement Vera!I agree with everything said in this post
Love this post. I am a firm believer in visualizing and positive thinking. It can change your life, or your outlook on life in a second!
Very uplifting post, thanks! 🙂

Visualising what you want is one of the most important things in life. Otherwise you’ll have no idea where you’re headed.
I too read Yaro’s post, and left him A Happy Birthday wish. I agree that we should get rid of negative thoughts, and replace them with Positive Thoughts. One wise man once said, “if you think you can, you can, if you think you can’t, you can’t”.
Till then,
Jean
Excellent post, very uplifting. I agree that focusing on our strengths is a great positive thinking tool. When we are confident in ourselves and our skills, consumers can tell the difference and are more receptive to us.
I see here some nice advices that could help many people with personal problems. I’ve read the post with pleasure, and my favourite part was saying about recognizing negative thoughts. I have some problems with that and I know that coping with your negative thoughts can be really difficult. When something bad happens to me the first thing I do is thinking about haw awful I am at something… This is no good for me and for my friends, I’m trying to fight with that. I hope that your tips will help me.
“If that feels to forced then consider letting the negative thoughts go. For example, you can say to yourself, “I have had some trouble with money in the past but I’m looking forward now and am good with money now.”
Probably the hardest part of the list! Once you can do this however the skys the limit!
Thanks for the encouraging and inspiring words! You just make me want to achieve more and more.
I think the biggest thing is visualization. I don’t think we truly understand how powerful it is to really harness the power of the mind to create in reality what we have already created in our minds eye. Thanks for the great post.
Vera, my potential unlocked. great post
Letting go is always the hardest part for me. But we should always move on or else growth will never happen. Thanks for the very inspiring post!
