I’m not a big recipe hound, but Bobby sent me a link to his site, http://www.greatfoodidea.com/, and I thought it was a good example of a classic online business model. Here’s how it works:

Provide content that:

  1. is focused on a narrow topic (recipes);
  2. a lot of people want;
  3. allows people to contribute to the content (not necessary, but certainly helps).

Then all you have to do is get people to the site. Get enough people and you can sell advertising. The more eyeballs that see your content, the more you can charge advertisers.

You could also convert the content into a print book or ebook, and sell them separately. That’s what Jordan Mcauley does with his contactanycelebrity site.

Happy cooking!
